Purpose of the Job:

As a Senior Social Worker in the Safeguarding team, you will offer a comprehensive, effective, and systemically-informed social work service, managing complex cases within statutory guidelines. Your work will be both relationship-based and responsive, aiming to achieve positive outcomes for families while working closely with a supportive team of professionals.

What you will do:

- Provide systemically-informed social work in complex situations, setting clear aims to address risk and need for each child.

- Build and maintain professional, honest relationships with children and their families, fostering trust and resolving conflicts.

- Guide and support less experienced colleagues, offering developmental opportunities and acting as practice educator.

- Present complex information in professional settings, maintaining accurate case records and producing high-quality reports.

- Observe and engage with children to understand their development and needs, coordinating with other professionals to prioritise their interests.

- Address issues of adult mental health, substance misuse, abuse, and neglect, safeguarding both children and vulnerable adults.

- Conduct in-depth, evidence-based assessments of social need and risk, maintaining a partnership with families.

- Manage a complex caseload, planning and reviewing work to balance risks with family strengths for positive outcomes.

- Uphold statutory duties, using the law to inform decisions and support families, while ensuring evidence is prepared for court when necessary.
