We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join the team at HMP Preston, a Category B male remand prison in Preston city centre with capacity of around 750.
Join the Recovery Team and empower those whom wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well-being through recovery from drugs and alcohol.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.
Hours:
This is a part time role, 26 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shifts will be between 08:00 - 17:00,. and we can be flexible on the shift pattern - we will discuss this with you at interview.
Salary:
This position is part time , you'll receive an annual salary of £28,247 - £32,346 (FTE) dependent on experience

What you'll be doing
As our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Managing a caseload of around 30 patients with varying needs, including substance misuse, mental health, trauma etc
- Deliver group interventions, aimed at addressing any active addiction concerns
- Carry out work on a 1-1 basis with patients, including therapeutic interventions and care planning
- Delivering outstanding care to psychosocial patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback - ensuring that their care is personalised and tailored to the individual
- Providing a programme of psychosocial interventions and comprehensive assessments
- Provide information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cession, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices
- Prepare patients for release and transfer

Our new Substance Misuse Recovery Worker will:
- Be an experienced Recovery Worker within Drug & Alcohol services - whether within the community or a secure setting
- Have experience within the criminal justice system - either in a prison setting (ideally), or within the community
- Have experience of working within the substance misuse multi-disciplinary framework, which includes housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways
