Job Title: Experienced Social Worker - Children's Team

Duration: 3 months, with the possibility of extension

Reporting To: Team Manager

Are you an experienced social worker looking for a new adventure? We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our dynamic Children's Team in the picturesque seaside town of Weston-super-Mare. What you will do:

* Conduct thorough assessments, develop and implement care plans, and review interventions for children and families in need.

* Lead multi-disciplinary collaborations to improve outcomes for children and young people, ensuring a comprehensive approach to safeguarding.

* Engage directly with children and families to support positive outcomes using the Signs of Safety approach.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the Council's electronic case recording systems.

* Participate in high-quality supervision and continuous self-evaluation to enhance your professional practice.

* Uphold the Council's policies on equality and inclusion, ensuring respect and fairness in all dealings.

Essential Qualifications:

* Registered as a Social Worker with Social Work England.

* Recognised Social Work Qualification (e.g., Degree or Diploma in Social Work).

* Commitment to achieving a specialist post-qualification (PQ) award or equivalent.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

* Experience of direct work with children and families in need of statutory services.

* Knowledge of child protection, fostering, adoption, and care proceedings.

* Ability to communicate effectively with children, young people, and families.

* Strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and social work legislation.

* Experience of working within multi-agency settings and leading professional meetings.

* Ability to analyse and interpret assessments to develop care plans and strategies.

* Experience in safeguarding children and managing complex cases.

* Skilled in using IT systems and case management software (e.g., LiquidLogic).

* Capacity to reflect on practice, receive supervision, and engage in CPD.

* Ability to work flexibly, including out-of-hours work when necessary.

* A valid Enhanced DBS Check (to be completed before employment).
