Job Advert Role Description

Supported Living North Yorkshire provides support across 2 schemes within the Harrogate Area, we provides assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis / Autism / Mental Health but may present complex conditions.

Our services offers 24/7 specialist supported living care which is designed to provide just the right level of support; we encourage individuals to develop the skills that they need to live as independently as possible. We offer 1:1 and 2;1 staffing where required.

Within the homes we continually promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. We find that the people who are supported by Supported Living in North Yorkshire are very proud of their homes as they are directly involved in creating it. Individuals are supported with daily duties such as cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, depending upon their ability.

Many enjoy the social occasions arranged by request of the tenants, such as: college, eating out, going shopping, going to music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks and much, much more.

As the Deputy Manager, you will be working with the Registered Manager to ensure quality of care is delivered across all of our supported living schemes in Harrogate which provide 24 hours on site support in the services and 16 hours of admin time at our office. You must be committed to working in a person centred way that promotes independence and social inclusion.

The Role:

  • You will be expected to provide support to the staff and also the tenants in a way that reflects the wishes and needs of the people you are supporting, and is consistent with their individual support plans.
  • You will support people to maintain a home of their own and to lead rich and fulfilled lives as valued and contributing members of their community.
  • You will be responsible for managing staff allocations, recruitment, auditing and reviewing/ updating care plans / ensuring quality and person centres care is provided, staff training allocating and booking/ e-roster/ ordering monies and also medication.
  • You will be expected to comply with all regulation as defined in policies, in supervisions and in training sessions.
  • You will also be expected to attend supervisions and provide supervisions for the staff teams, team meetings/governance meetings and training and ensure that you provide good communication to your manager and colleagues.
  • You will support your team and complete debriefs with your teams following any incidents.
Requirements:
  • You must have experience working within a Supported Living environment
  • It is essential to have experience of working with people with a learning disabilities, autism and complex needs for this job role, have a clear understanding of the REACH standards.
  • You should have initiative and motivation to work alone, as well as part of an established team.
  • You must be able to relate to people; be a good listener and communicator.
  • You must demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and an enthusiasm for working and supporting them to take control of their lives in a Supported Living Environment.
You may experience challenging behaviours in this role, therefore full training will be given.
