Children's Independent Reviewing Officer

We have an exciting ongoing opportunity for a Children's Independent Reviewing Officer in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, with a competitive pay rate of £40 per hour. What you will do:

- Chair statutory Cared for Child Reviews, ensuring decisions are made in the child's best interests.

- Monitor the care planning process, ensuring timely and high-quality services for children.

- Act as an advocate for children and young people, ensuring their views are prioritised.

- Oversee individual care plans, keeping them relevant and compliant with statutory guidance.

- Challenge and escalate issues when care standards are not met or when delays occur.

- Provide professional guidance to social workers, carers, and other professionals.

- Ensure compliance with the IRO Handbook, the Children Act 1989, and other statutory guidance.

- Collaborate with social workers, foster carers, and professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children in care.

- Maintain accurate records, and produce quality reports and recommendations after reviews.

- Contribute to service development and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

- A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, or equivalent).

- Registration with Social Work England.

- Significant experience in children's social work, with expertise in safeguarding and care planning.

- Experience in a senior social work role, such as Advanced Practitioner, is desirable.

- Strong understanding of legislation and best practices for children in care.

- Exceptional communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.

- Ability to constructively challenge poor practice and promote high standards in care planning.

- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with children, families, and professionals.
